Botox can be used under prescription for smoothing away the frown lines that both men and women get in middle age between the eyebrows and can also be used for other facial wrinkles. It is most often used in order to smooth out lines. When people feel the lines on their forehead make them look tired or even angry, they choose this type of cosmetic improvement.
If you have an allergy to any of the ingredients of Botox, you should not consider this treatment. And common sense dictates that you shouldn't go ahead if there is an infection in the skin surrounding the area being injected. You also should inform your physician before a treatment if you have any issues that affect your breathing such as asthma.
How does it work?
Usually, wrinkles in the skin form beside a muscle that is close to it, normally beneath it.Botox injected into those muscles restricts nerve impulses going to the tissue that is causing the wrinkle. The skin supported by the muscle stops being creased by constant expression contractions by this limited or no muscle movement. With inhibited muscle contractions, lines and wrinkles stop forming. As a result, frown lines and other wrinkles are reduced, giving the person a more youthful look.
Botox injections is a non-invasive procedure that is often used for wrinkles, and it takes less than 30 minutes. A small amount of Botox is injected by the practitioner into the site to be treated. As the Botox starts working, it blocks the nerve signals to the muscles under the skin. The muscle therefore relaxes and the skin is smoothed, causing facial lines to diminish.
One normally minor side effect from the Botox Injection Treatment is slightly red and sore skin for a few days. Usually on the same day, a patient can leave the clinic straight away and return to work. It may take up to a week to maximize the full effect, but the treatment usually starts to work within 3 days.
After the Treatment
Try to exercise your treated muscles for one to two hours following your procedure. Squinting, frowning and raising your eyebrows should all be practiced. This helps work the Botox into your muscles. While this can help, it won't impact your results negatively if you forget or don't have the time to do it.
Do not do yoga, heavy lifting or any type of strenuous exercise for four hours after the treatment, and take care to not rub or massage those areas that have been treated. And, after the procedure, don't take Advil, vitamin D, or Tylenol.
And don't be concerned if you see some tiny bumps or marks on your face after the procedure. They will go away within a few hours.
Make sure whoever is doing your Botox treatment is trained specifically in this procedure. These treatments are medical procedures and need to be viewed as such.
